Sarah J. "Sally" Wattsjer Young, 68, of 7 Vo-Tech Drive, Oil City, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, after an extended illness.

Born Sept. 21, 1938, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Margaret E. "Peg" Wattsjer and the late Carl Wattsjer.

Ms. Young attended the Oil City schools and was a graduate of Oil City High School.

She had worked many years at First Seneca Bank in Oil City and also as a certified nurses assistant at the Oil City Presbyterian Home.

She attended St. Joseph and St. Stephen churches.

An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.

She enjoyed antiques, Indian lore and folk and primitive art work.

Ms. Young was an avid bowler, loved her horses and enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Zip.

She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and caring for her mother and was happy she was able to travel to Ireland with her mother.

Ms. Young also had volunteered at VARHA (Venango Area Riding for the Handicapped).

Surviving are two children, Marla E. Downing and husband, Rick, of Oil City and Mark W. Conn of Warren; and four grandchildren, Sarah and Katie Downing and Kristen and Haley Conn.

She also is survived by her mother, Margaret "Peg" Wattsjer of Titusville; two sisters, Lillian and Bill Clinger of Charlottesville, Va., and Carlotta and Ronald Kasaback of Ridgway; three nieces, Catherine Clinger, Laura Dickason and Carla Kasaback; and one nephew, Ronald Kasaback Jr.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Suzanne Conn.

Private funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.

Interment will take place in Rynd Farm Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to VNA Hospice or to VARHA, 255 Route 62, Franklin, 16323.
